The humble beef burger gets a fiery kick with fresh jalapeños, spicy pepper jack cheese, and a Chipotle Mayo-infused sauce that will make your mouth water. Piled on a grain-free UnBun with lettuce and crispy bacon, this is a burger everyone will be asking you to make again and again.
Ingredients
6 slices uncured bacon
- 1 small red onion, sliced
- 1 lb. ground beef, rolled into 3 equal-size balls
- 3 slices pepper jack cheese
- 1-2 fresh jalapeños, sliced
- 6 butter lettuce leaves
- 3 UnBun buns
-
4 Tbsp. A Tad Sweet Ketchup
-
4 Tbsp. Chipotle Lime Mayo
- Salt, to taste
Directions
Spray your pan lightly with avocado oil spray and preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Separate the ground beef into equal-sized balls. Place them in the pan, several inches apart, and flatten with a spatula. Salt each burger, to taste.
Cook burgers to an internal temperature of 140°F, flipping once halfway through cooking. Place a slice of pepper jack on each burger and allow it to melt. Remove from heat.
- Place 4 sliced bun halves (2 full buns) on the same pan over medium heat and toast for about 10 seconds, until golden brown. Flip buns and toast for 10 seconds. Remove from heat. Repeat the toasting process for the other 2 buns.
- To make the sauce, add ketchup and mayo to a small bowl and mix until fully combined.
- Assemble the burger: Spread a dollop of sauce on the bottom bun. Top with lettuce, cheeseburger patty, bacon, jalapeños, and onion. Spread a little more sauce on the top bun and complete the burger.
- Repeat the process for your other two burgers. Serve and enjoy!

A beautiful burger doesn’t need much: just ground beef, salt, cheese, a bun, and some condiments if you’re feeling saucy. In this recipe, we let the ground beef shine on its own, then ramp up the flavor with a slice of zesty pepper jack, fresh jalapeños, and some crispy bacon for the perfect salty, savory finish. We cooked our burger in a cast-iron pan over a charcoal grill for ultimate Primal flavor, but you can also prepare your burgers on the stovetop or skip the pan and place a flat griddle over your grill grate.
The "secret sauce" in this easy-to-make recipe isn’t locked away in a hidden safe somewhere—we simply combined A Tad Sweet Ketchup with our creamy, feisty Chipotle Lime Mayo for an outrageously delicious spread reminiscent of an amped-up Thousand Island. Spread it on a griddled UnBun™, and you have burger perfection. We love UnBun Foods because (like us!) they’re all about honest ingredients and great flavor. Plus, their buns are grain-free and keto-friendly, so everyone around your table can enjoy them.
